The Wildland Firefighter serves on an engine crew, hand crew, performing fire suppression and fuels management duties in the most adverse climate, fuel, and terrain conditions.
Supervisory chain:
The FFT2 has no supervisory responsibilities and is supervised by the Firefighter Type 1 (FFT1) or one of the Single Resource Bosses (CRWB/ENGB/TFLD).
PRE-ACADEMY COURSE REQUIREMENTS

• Firefighter Training (S-130 – Classroom Portion)
• Introduction to Wildland Fire Behavior (S-190)

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS
• Completion of satisfactory Background Check, including Motor Vehicle Report • Passing Drug Screen • Satisfactory DOT Medical Examiner’s Certification (will be authorized by employer)
ACADEMY REQUIRMENTS • Ability to pass a WCT (Work Capacity Test/Pack Test) at Arduous Level (Complete a 3-mile walk wearing a 45-pound pack in less than 45 minutes) • Wildland Fire Safety Training Annual Refresher (WFSTAR) (RT-130) • Firefighter Training (S-130 – Field Day Portion)
• Daily Diversity of Tasks
• Remote based Locations when not deployed on fire assignments or on-call assignments
